Welcome! My name is Roseanna, but you can call me Rosie!

I’m a mother to two boys, a student midwife, and a Sydney-based photographer.  I became all three because of the same deep belief that motherhood deserves to be witnessed and empowered. I love capturing mums and truly believe we deserve to be celebrated, we are absolutely amazing!!!

My work centres around matrescence, the transformation a woman moves through as she transforms from maiden to mother. The slow, seismic shift in identity that is one of the most profound things we can experience, and that (shocker) almost nobody talks about.

I came to photography the way most mothers come to a lot of things, through noticing what was missing. I looked back at the early years with my boys and realised I was barely in any of the photos, unless it was a crappy quality blurry phone selfie with my eight double chins in them. I was always behind the camera. Always just outside the frame, desperate to have photos but not just wanting a heap of selfies and too tired to keep asking "someone take a pic of me PLEASE". And I know I’m not alone in that, us Mums tend to always desperately document our babies - but who the heck is documenting us?

So much of motherhood is spent holding everyone else’s memories. Booking the session for the kids, for the family, for the album, but not for yourself. As if your own presence in this season of life isn’t worth documenting.

I want to change that. I want to be your hype woman. To show you how you look when you’re fully present with your children, laughing, holding, just being together. Because one day your kids will want to see that. And so will you!

My midwifery training means I understand this season from the inside, the vulnerability, the identity shift, the beauty and the hard bits. I’m also the Editor of Birthings Magazine for Homebirth NSW, telling the stories of birth and motherhood in print, so lets just say I love all things woman-centred!

I gently guide when needed, but mostly I aim to just observe your connection and have a laugh with you. I want you to feel comfortable, present, and able to simply be with your children while I document what naturally unfolds. I want your session with me to feel like you're meeting up with a friend, we will laugh together, we will yap together and I will capture the fun.
