Here’s the thing nobody tells you when you’re booking family photos: the location doesn’t matter nearly as much as the feeling.
The best family sessions aren’t the ones with the prettiest backdrop. They’re the ones where your kids forgot they were even being photographed because they were too busy doing something they love.
That’s the whole philosophy behind the way I shoot families and going forward is something I want to continue doing. This fun session with this incredible boy mum Ariane and her two sons, Otis and Fox, is the perfect example of exactly that.
Meet Otis and Fox - And Their Skatepark
These two boys eat, sleep, and breathe biking and going to the skatepark. So when it came to planning their family session, the answer was obvious. We didn’t need to find a “nice” location. We needed to find their location.
We headed down to a skatepark on Sydney’s Lower North Shore at golden hour, and from the very first minute, Otis and Fox were completely in their element. Just two boys doing what they love, with their mum right in the thick of it, living her best boy mum life.
The result is a gallery full of images that look and feel exactly like them. Loud, joyful, real, and completely alive.
